Player of the Week: Carter Caudill (Bellefontaine)

The senior running back/linebacker proved why he is the best overall player in the county. Caudill’s 6 rushing touchdowns set a new BHS record and tied Devon Lyburtus’s total touchdowns record from 1995. Caudill carried the ball 16 times for 120 yards and racked up 8 tackles in the Chiefs’ blowout of longtime rival Sidney.

55: BHS quarterback Reign St. Clair made his much anticipated debut, teaming up with the trio of Kaiden Foulk (Sr.), Spencer Stolly (Jr.), and Sutton Daring (Jr.) who combined for 18 catches for 309 yards and two scores to drive the Chiefs (55-21 over Sidney) to their most points in a week 1 game since a 64-0 victory over Indian Lake on opening night 1984.

129: Indian Lake Junior receiver Brodey Reisinger flashed his all-Ohio prowess with 8 catches for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Lakers fell to a stout Lima Bath Wildcat squad from the Western Buckeye League.

111/105: Ridgemont’s Mason Howard (Sr.) and Kody Kiser (Jr.) rushed for 111 and 105 yards, respectively, as the Golden Gophers kicked off the season with a dominant 28-7 win over the Riverdale Falcons of the Blanchard Valley Conference.

122: Benjamin Logan senior wide receiver Cayden Brown caught 8 balls for 122 yards and a touchdown as the Raiders pushed the heavily favored Bluffton Pirates to the brink in a 33-30 loss. The Pirates were 13-2 and Division VI Region 22 champs a season ago.

156: Riverside’s Dylan Trimble (Jr.) rushed for 66 yards, caught a pass for 14 yards, and returned two kickoffs for 76 yards as the Pirates struggled to keep up with an Ansonia squad that won 11 games in 2024.

4: West Liberty-Salem fought an uphill battle vs. Jonathan Alder of the Central Buckeye Conference. The Tigers fell 33-7, but a 4th quarter 4-yard touchdown pass from Beckett Sullivan (So.) to Casey Boyer (Jr.) gave the Tigers some positivity heading into a week 2 showdown with Benjamin Logan.
